NDOT Awards $9.1 Million I-15 Improvement Project in Mesquite

Post Date:02/13/2020 3:55 PM

MESQUITE, NEV. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) today awarded a $9.1 million construction contract to Las Vegas Paving Corp. to improve a 5.3-mile stretch of Interstate 15 from just south of West Mesquite Boulevard to the Arizona border in Mesquite, Clark County. The 6-month project calls for milling and placing new asphalt roadway in both directions along Interstate 15 as well as repairing and resurfacing the freeway bridge decks at Exit 120 and Exit 122. Other upgrades entail placing new signage, drainage and lighting.

“This project will help preserve and extend the highway’s lifecycle while also creating a smoother, safer traveling surface for motorists,” said NDOT spokesman Tony Illia.

Construction is expected to start during the second quarter of 2020, with work occurring Monday through Friday during daytime hours. The project is anticipated to finish by late fall 2020. Motorists may encounter varying lane restrictions and minor travel delays. As such, motorists should use caution while travelling through work zones, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit or call 511 before driving.
