USA Parkway/I-80 Lane and Ramp Closures July 12-13

Post Date:07/11/2019 3:40 PM
Traffic delays will be in place on the USA Parkway near Interstate 80 Friday and Saturday, July 12-13 as the Nevada Department of Transportation continues a project to enhance traffic safety and flow.
• Traffic flaggers will alternate directions of traffic across the USA Parkway bridge over I-80 between 2 p.m. Friday, July 12 and noon Saturday, July 13 as sections of the bridge are resurfaced. Drivers traveling between the USA Parkway and I-80 should anticipate moderate travel delays.
• The off-ramp from westbound I-80 to the USA Parkway will also be closed between 8 p.m. Friday, July 12 and noon Saturday, July 13.
• Additional overnight ramp closures, which have been in place since spring as part of the road improvements, will continue at the I-80 and USA Parkway interchange from 8 p.m.-4 a.m. Monday evenings through Saturday mornings. During ramp closures, nearby detours will be available via the Patrick interchange and Waltham Way.
• Single lane closures will also continue on I-80 near the USA Parkway interchange from 7 p.m.-4 a.m. Monday evenings through Saturday mornings. One lane will remain available in each direction of the interstate, and interstate travel speeds will be reduced to 55 mph during lane closures.
Interstate ramps are being extended and widened on the western half of the interchange, providing safer and easier merges for vehicles traveling between Reno-Sparks and the USA Parkway. The USA Parkway on ramp to westbound I-80 will be widened from a one-lane to two-lane ramp, and an approximately 1,800 merge lane added for easier and safer access to merge onto I-80 toward Reno-Sparks. An additional 1,700-foot exit-only lane will also be added at the base of the eastbound I-80 off ramp to USA Parkway.
The approximate $6 million project by Ames Construction, Inc. is anticipated to complete at the end of the summer.
As traffic increases with enhanced development at the Reno-Tahoe Industrial Center, NDOT is also evaluating potential regional interstate improvements in future years.
State road project information is available at or by dialing (775) 888-7000.
