NDOT Awards $10.5 Million Tropicana Avenue Upgrade Contract in Clark County

Post Date:06/27/2019 3:17 PM

LAS VEGAS, NEV. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) last week awarded a $10.5 million contract to upgrade a 4.8-mile-long stretch of East Tropicana Avenue (State Route 593) between Maryland Parkway and Boulder Highway in Clark County. Las Vegas Paving is the general contractor.

Plans calls for milling and new asphalt pavement, plus reconfiguring median islands for increased lane widths that reduce left hand turn crashes. Other upgrades entail enhanced lighting, fiber optics, and improved handicap accessibility with sidewalks and ramps. The project is expected to break ground in mid-August, with work tentatively occurring from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Construction is anticipated to finish in the fall of 2020.

Motorists should use caution while travelling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit or call 511 before driving.
