Gilcrease Avenue Closure January 14—February 25 in Northwest Las Vegas

Post Date:01/07/2019 12:20 PM

LAS VEGAS, NEV. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will close Gilcrease Avenue between Oso Blanca Road and Tapestry Park Street from 7 a.m., January 14, until 6 p.m., February 25, in northwest Las Vegas.

The temporary closure is needed for underground flood control upgrades as part of a $78 million, six-mile-long widening and upgrade of U.S. Highway 95 between Ann and Kyle Canyon roads that broke ground in January 2018. Las Vegas Paving is the general contractor.

The project calls for expanding the highway from four to six lanes from Durango Drive to Kyle Canyon Road, constructing Elkhorn Road carpool access ramps and building a diverging diamond interchange at Kyle Canyon Road that temporarily shifts traffic to the left side of the road, thereby keeping traffic flowing through two pairs of unimpeded left turns onto and off the freeway. Other enhancements entail placing decorative rock, erecting signage and lighting, and installing storm drainage. Construction is scheduled to finish in the fall of 2019.

Motorists should use caution while travelling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit nvroads.com or call 511 before driving.
