MLK Blvd. Closure at U.S. Highway 95 Thursday Night in Downtown Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NEV. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will close Martin Luther King Boulevard between Bonanza Road and Mineral Avenue from 7 p.m., November 15, until 6 a.m., November 16, in downtown Las Vegas. The U.S. Highway 95 on and offramps at Martin Luther King Boulevard will also be closed during the same time frame.
The temporary closure is needed for bridge construction as part of Project Neon – a nearly $1 billion 4-mile-long widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue that began in 2016. Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. is the design-build general contractor, with Atkins North America as lead designer. Project Neon is 88 percent finished and scheduled for substantial completion in the summer of 2019.
Motorists should use caution while travelling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. Check the Project Neon website (NDOTProjectNeon.com) or Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter pages (@NDOTProjectNeon) for up to date information. There is also a free smart phone app available, plus a hotline available in both English and Spanish at: 702-293-NEON (6366). NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors.
