NDOT Announces Overnight Lane Closures on Eastbound I-80 East of Sparks

Overnight lane closures will take place on eastbound Interstate 80 east of Sparks this coming Sunday through Wednesday as NDOT clears roadsides and drainages

Post Date:09/25/2018 8:30 AM

CARSON CITY, Nev. –Overnight lane closures will take place on eastbound Interstate 80 east of Sparks this coming Sunday through Wednesday as the Nevada Department of Transportation clears roadsides and drainages.

One eastbound lane of I-80 will be closed and travel speeds reduced to 55 mph between the Vista and Patrick exits from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly Sunday, Sept. 30 through Wednesday, Oct. 3. Motorists should anticipate travel delays, and are advised to allow extra travel time. Intermittent single lane closures may also take place on westbound I-80 in the area if needed for work zone safety.

Multiple times every month, NDOT utilizes a roadway sweeping truck to sweep roadway trash and debris in the area. This additional roadway cleaning will remove and haul away roadside dirt, trash and weeds in the roadside median to clear and help keep roadways clean and drainages functioning. The work will help reduce potential traffic safety concerns from blowing roadside trash and weeds, as well as reduce roadside flooding and erosion.

NDOT will use multiple haul trucks and loaders and 24 road maintenance crew members to remove the sediment and complete the work as quickly as possible.
