NDOT Announces Eastbound I-80 Lovelock Lane Reductions for Roadway Culvert Replacement
CARSON CITY, Nev. – Single lane closures will be in place through early winter on eastbound I-80 near Lovelock as the Nevada Department of Transportation replaces an aging roadway culvert.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 20, single lane closures, lane shifts and reduced speed limits of 55 mph will be in place 24 hours a day on eastbound I-80 at the Fairview Ditch east of Lovelock as NDOT replaces an aging 86-foot-by-26-foot concrete box culvert.
Temporary rumble strips and additional roadway lighting will provide extra awareness and visibility to enhance traffic safety in the work zone. Motorists are advised to drive at posted work zone speed limits, or slower as necessary for conditions. The project is expected to complete in early winter.
The approximately $800,000 project by contractor Q & D Construction will improve I-80 for the approximately 9,000 drivers traveling the interstate daily. The culvert replacement is part of NDOT’s program of renovating and replacing older bridges and structures to help ensure the safety of the motoring public. NDOT’s dedicated bridge inspection and rehabilitation program has helped Nevada bridges to be named the nation’s best for five consecutive years.
