NDOT Announces Lane Closures on Lamoille Highway in Spring Creek Area
CARSON CITY, Nev. – Beginning July 9, single lane closures will be in place on State Route 227/Lamoille Highway in Spring Creek as the Nevada Department of Transportation resurfaces the roadway.
One lane will be closed in each direction of Lamoille Highway between Boyd-Kennedy Road and Palace Parkway Mondays through Fridays during daylight hours, primarily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with occasional weekend construction work. Drivers should anticipate moderate travel delays. Construction is anticipated to complete by early fall.
Six miles of Lamoille Highway in Spring Creek will be resurfaced between Boyd-Kennedy Road and Palace Parkway. In certain areas, nearly four inches of the roadway surface will be removed and repaved for a smoother and safer driving surface. Additional width will be added to the highway during repaving, creating an approximately four-foot median between opposite directions of travel for enhanced traffic safety. Turn pockets will also be added for safer turns at Boyd-Kennedy Road and Spring Creek High School and a multi-use path bordering the highway repaved.
The approximately $4 million in roadway improvement by contractor Road and Highway Builders will preserve the road for the nearly 14,000 motorists who travel it daily.
In 2009, segments of the highway were resurfaced to help seal and prolong the life of the roadway surface before being fully repaved.
