U.S. Highway 95 Full Closure at I-15 TONIGHT in Downtown Las Vegas

Post Date:06/06/2018 9:27 AM

LAS VEGAS, NEV. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will close north and southbound U.S. Highway 95 at Interstate 15 from 10 p.m., tonight, until 5 a.m., June 7, in downtown Las Vegas. However, Interstate 15 and the “Spaghetti Bowl” interchange ramps will remain open.

The temporary closures are needed for bridge construction as part of “The Main Event,” the third and final phase of work for Project Neon’s nearly $1 billion 4-mile-long widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue. This marks the third of six full freeway closures allowed under Project Neon’s work schedule. Workers will pour 228 cubic yards of ready mix for the new Interstate 15 southbound bridge deck whose framework went into place May 18-21. There will be 21 ready mix trucks delivering enough concrete to fill 1,100 bathtubs.

Project Neon construction entails building a total of 28 new bridges, with 15 left to be completed. Project Neon is nearly 70 percent finished with over 1 million manhours of work recorded thus far. Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. is the design-build general contractor, with Atkins North America as lead designer. Project Neon remains on budget and on scheduled for an anticipated completion in the summer of 2019.

Suggested alternate travel routes during the closure for northbound U.S. Highway 95 include Boulder Highway, Charleston Boulevard and Eastern Avenue; southbound traffic, meanwhile, can use Valley View Boulevard, Rancho Drive and Decatur Boulevard as alternates. Motorists are strongly encouraged to use the Waze navigation app for trouble-free travel.US 95 Overnight Closure_6.6.18

Motorists should use caution while travelling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. Check the Project Neon website ( or Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter pages (@NDOTProjectNeon) for up to date information. There is also a free smart phone app available, plus a hotline available in both English and Spanish at: 702-293-NEON (6366). NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors.
