Nevada Department of Transportation Announces SR 339 Lane Closures for Road Resurfacing
CARSON CITY, Nev. – Daytime lane closures will take place May 21 through 24 on State Route 339 in Yerington as the Nevada Department of Transportation resurfaces the roadway.
Single lane closures will take place on SR 339 between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily May 21 through 24 from the junction with U.S. 95 Alternate to approximately five miles south as the road is chip sealed.
One-way traffic with traffic flaggers and pilot cars will be in place to safely guide motorists through the road work zone, with travel delays of up to 20 minutes to be expected during daytime hours. Motorists are advised to drive at posted construction speed limits, or slower as necessary for conditions. All lanes will be open during overnight hours. The road work schedule is weather dependent.
The chip seal will help protect and prolong pavement life by repaving the roadway with crushed aggregate rock and asphalt. Often considered the best value for road maintenance dollar, chip seals also restore roadway friction and aesthetics.
SAFE WORK ZONE DRIVING TIPS
∙ Always buckle up.
∙ Pay attention. Normal speed limits may be reduced, traffic lanes may be changed and people and vehicles may be working near the road.
