Alta/Bonneville Closed at I-15 This Weekend in Downtown Las Vegas

Post Date:04/10/2018 2:42 PM

LAS VEGAS, NEV. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will close Alta Drive / Bonneville Avenue at Interstate 15 from 10 p.m., April 13, until 5 a.m., April 16, in downtown Las Vegas. The road closure is needed for bridge demolition related to “The Main Event,” the third and final phase of work for Project Neon’s nearly $1 billion 4-mile-long widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue.

Bridge demolition is needed due to age and the need for greater capacity. Debris rubble is being crushed and reused as fill material elsewhere on Project Neon rather than placed in landfill. NDOT is committed to recycling, sustainability and improving the environment. Project Neon is 63 percent complete, with anticipated completion in the summer of 2019. Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. is the design-build general contractor, with Atkins North America as lead designer.

Motorists should use caution while travelling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. Check the Project Neon website ( or Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter pages (@NDOTProjectNeon) for up to date information. There is also a free smart phone app available, plus a hotline available in both English and Spanish at: 702-293-NEON (6366). NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit or call 511 before driving.
