Heavy Traffic Expected This Weekend During “Aviation Nation” in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NEV. -- The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is expecting heavy traffic during “Aviation Nation,” which takes place from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., November 11-12, at Nellis Air Force Base in northeast Clark County. There is free public parking at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 7000 N. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas; buses will shuttle attendees to and from the air base. Roughly 300,000 people are expected at the show, which also doubles as the U.S. Air Force’s 70th birthday celebration.
“We’re expecting traffic congestion at Interstate 15 Exit 54 to Speedway Boulevard as well as Las Vegas Boulevard north during Aviation Nation weekend,” said NDOT spokesman Tony Illia. “We advise taking alternate routes, if possible. However, if travel along through those areas is unavoidable then please plan accordingly by budgeting additional drive time.”
NDOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit nvroads.com or call 511 before driving.
