Overnight Freeway Lane Closures Coming to Reno Spaghetti Bowl for Bridge Resurfacing Work
Beginning Wednesday evening July 12, overnight lane closures will be in place on Interstate 580/U.S. 395 in the Reno spaghetti bowl area as the Nevada Department of Transportation resurfaces bridges.
Various lanes will be reduced on I-580/U.S. 395 through the spaghetti bowl between approximately 9 pm and 5:30 am Sunday evenings through Friday mornings. A minimum of one lane will always be available. Periodic, overnight spaghetti bowl ramp closures will also take place, with marked detour routes available. Construction is anticipated to take place through August.
Begun last fall, the approximately $1.5 million project by Truesdell Corporation will this summer repave the aging roadway surface of five bridges near the spaghetti bowl for a smoother and safer drive.
The work complements NDOT’s proactive pavement preservation program through which state roadway surfaces are preserved and resurfaced before reaching time for more extensive and costly repairs. Nevada bridges have also been named the nation’s best in the last four years by ranking of U.S. Department of Transportation bridge data.
