The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) Web Site Standards Manual is designed
to meet State mandated guidelines and is divided into sections which detail each area of site
development. Please refer to this manual when creating or modifying any pages or areas of the
NDOT web site.
The Governor's Office has mandated that agencies with in-house web masters are expected to replace current web site home pages with the new DoIT look-and-feel template format no later than July 1, 2002. In addition, all new pages added to existing web sites must follow the new format. All pages on existing web sites must also comply with the state NITOC Web Style Guide.
The NDOT site is designed to be easily navigable by all persons including those who are disabled, viewable by all major current browsers, be fast loading and flexible for future expansion. Special care has been taken to ensure that everyone has equal access to this site.
The overall user interface was designed to have wide visual appeal and to be easily
navigated. Because there is such an abundance of information available on the web
site, all of the information was divided into 9 major categories:
Traveler Information, Doing Business With NDOT, Public Information,
Reports and Publications, Announcements and News, About NDOT, Links, and
Search/Sitemap. Much of the information overlaps into 2 or even three categories,
but the goal was to streamline the search for information according to the general
needs of the user. The link page consolidates external links within the
site. A global search function is available on the sitemap page to search by key words
or phrases.
