Winter Tips

Weather in Nevada has forever been known to change without warning. We provide assistance to motorists in these oftentimes unpredictable conditions.

We know that occasionally, motorists travel unprepared during the winter, and this section is designed to provide guidelines to assure a safe trip even in the most extreme conditions. Please read this section carefully when planning a winter trip through Nevada, it could save your life!

If any NDOT official requests that measures be taken by you in these conditions, they should be obeyed. Remember, NDOT cares about your safety. Also, there are far too many accidents involving motorists driving too fast for the conditions. This also hampers efforts by NDOT crews and can also cause road closures. Winter conditions are no time to hurry. For your safety, please read the following and prepare for unexpected circumstances. You can also go the Interactive Weather Information Network (IWIN) for more information on weather on Nevada roads.

"Please remember to slow down and follow the vehicle ahead of you at a safe distance when driving during winter storms."
