Research Division StaffThe mission of the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) Research Division is to improve operational efficiency and increase serviceability of the Nevada transportation system. This is accomplished by supporting research that provides a better understanding and usage of materials, methods, designs, and the environments in which they are used. The Research Division develops new technical knowledge and implements that knowledge into common practice through the following programs:

Research Program: Yearly proposals are selected, reviewed and prioritized. When these projects conclude, a research report is generated containing the research conducted, recommendations, and how implementation is to occur.

Product Evaluation Program: There is a formal process to evaluate products for use on NDOT projects. The Research Division serves as the clearing-house for this product evaluation. When products meet the approved acceptance criteria they are placed on the Qualified Product List (QPL) that contractors use to select products for NDOT contracts.

Research Library: The library contains books, magazines, and publications on various transportation and related subjects. The librarian is also available to conduct literature searches for NDOT employees.
