TRANSPORTATION NOTICE PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING Project Neon, I-15 Corridor Sahara to US95/I-15 (Spaghetti Bowl) Interchange |
PURPOSE OF MEETING: The Nevada Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, is hosting a public meeting to present the Project Neon Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for public review. Project Neon is a freeway improvement project aimed at increasing capacity, improving safety, integrating transit operations and maximizing local access along I-15 from Sahara to the Spaghetti Bowl. Take this opportunity to receive information on the project and provide feedback on the plans.
WHEN AND WHERE: Wednesday, October 7, 2009, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Clark County Government Center, 500 South Grand Central Parkway, Pyramid Building, Las Vegas, NV 89106.
WHY: The proposed project seeks to more efficiently improve freeway traffic operations and safety when completed. Proposed improvements include adding additional capacity to accommodate forecasted traffic growth and separating regional traffic passing through the Las Vegas area from traffic destined for local interchanges. High-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes are also proposed. The project also includes a Martin Luther King Boulevard/Industrial Road Connector over I-15 and the Oakey Boulevard–Wyoming Avenue grade separation over the Union Pacific Railroad, and reconstructing the Charleston Boulevard interchange which includes adding a half interchange at Alta Drive.
WHERE YOU COME IN: You are invited to attend the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) public information meeting between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. There will be a brief project presentation at 5:30 p.m. followed by a short comment period. Before and after the presentation at 5:30 p.m., the meeting will be conducted in an “open house” format to provide you with an opportunity to view the displays and individually discuss the project with the project representatives. Your comments may be submitted for the public record in writing at the meeting or verbally to a court reporter who will be available throughout the meeting. In addition to any comments received at the meeting, written or email comments will be accepted through Friday, November 6, 2009.
