PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING FOR

APEX TO MESQUITE AND MOAPA VALLEY CORRIDOR STUDY

PURPOSE OF MEETING: The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, will conduct a public meeting to provide information and receive comments on the challenges and opportunities facing the corridor. Interested residents will have an opportunity to share what they feel are the issues that need to be addressed in this study, and what improvements they would like to see implemented.

STUDY LIMITS (shown in red and gold on the map):

·         I-15 from Apex to Arizona Stateline

·         US 93 from I-15 to Lincoln County line

·         SR 168 from I-15 to US 93

·         SR 169 from I-15 to Lake Mead National Recreation Area (a safety study only will be conducted on the portion from Logandale to Overton)

WHEN AND WHERE: The public information meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the City of Mesquite, City Council Chambers, 10 E. Mesquite Blvd., Mesquite, NV.

WHY: Proposed development and future growth along the corridor is driving the need for additional and improved access, as well as safety, operational, and capacity improvements. This study will identify a range of innovative, cost-effective, and workable transportation alternatives for the future.  The study will also explore early-action, low cost interim improvements.  The alternatives will assess socioeconomic, community, environmental, and cost impacts as the basis for developing future projects that address existing and projected transportation needs in the area.

WHERE YOU COME IN:  You are invited to attend the meeting at your convenience anytime during the meeting hours (4 p.m. to 7 p.m.).  A brief presentation about the corridor study will be given at 5:30 p.m. followed by a short open comment period.  Project representatives will be available during the meeting to discuss the study with you individually and answer your questions.

Your comments may be submitted for the public record in writing at the meeting; emailed to info@dot.state.nv.us with a reference to the Apex to Mesquite and Moapa Valley Corridor Study in the subject line; or mailed to Melvin McCallum, Project Manager, Nevada Department of Transportation, 3830 Meadows Lane, Las Vegas, NV  89107. Comments will be accepted through Friday, November 20, 2009.
