Traffic Incident Response
Move Vehicle Over After Minor Incident/Breakdown
Nevada’s Move It Law
will be fully enforced during project construction. The law requires
drivers to move their car to the nearest safe roadside location if it is
blocking the flow of traffic after a breakdown or minor incident.
During the Northbound U.S. 395 Improvement Project, tow
trucks and vehicles with push bumpers will be available to assist
motorists with moving their vehicle if necessary. The vehicles
will be moved out of the flow of traffic until the driver can make
arrangements for repair or towing.
Traffic Incident Response Plan
See Traffic Incident Response Plan
The Northbound U.S. 395 Traffic Incident Response Plan includes a communication plan for responding to incidents during construction and describes each of the tools that will be used to optimize traffic flow during construction.
Traffic flow monitoring devices will allow NDOT to monitor traffic incidents and queues so that drivers can be advised of upcoming delays and alternate routes through electronic message boards and via AM radio. Motorists will find information on any potential major delays, alternate routes or other project-related traffic concerns on electronic billboards posted alongside northbound U.S. 395. Traffic information is also available by tuning into 530 am on the radio.
Traffic accidents will also be quickly identified and located so that emergency responders can find the quickest route to handle any situation. Video of the freeway will be made available to the Traffic Incident Response Team so that they can communicate the response activities for each incident and clear the incidents quickly to improve traffic flow.

and return to and remain at the scene of the accident until the driver has fulfilled
the requirements of NRS 484E.030.
