Tahoe Basin Construction

Construction, Construction Read All About It!

Lake Tahoe Shoulder Work In cooperation with all Counterpart agencies, this edition of the Counterparts newsletter is dedicated to keep everyone informed of the upcoming 2009 construction season activities. Due to the sheer volume of work that will be taking place in the Tahoe Basin in 2009, we realize that the upcoming construction season will be busy and create challenges for Tahoe travelers as there will be numerous projects constructed concurrently throughout the California and Nevada sides of the Basin.

Many of the projects presented are associated with Caltrans’ and NDOT’s Lake Tahoe Environmental Improvement Programs (EIP), and together we are committed to providing better and safer roads in addition to protecting the environment. We understand the frustrations people face as they are traveling through construction zone after construction zone, as we are travelers too; however, providing early notice of these construction projects should help to ease your frustrations.

Over the years, all Counterpart agencies have been working cooperatively to enhance, maintain and protect the natural environment of Lake Tahoe and at the same time provide safer roadways. Consequently, very necessary projects include repairing pot holes and damaged roadways, performing source and erosion control to keep sediments and other pollutants from entering the lake, placing new and re-placing damaged barrier rail and guardrail, installing dynamic message signs as well as advisory radio systems to help get information out to the traveling public, etc.
