Roadway Rehabilitation, Safety Improvement and Enhancement Projects

Lake Tahoe Roadway Rehabilitation, Safety Improvement and Enhancement Project Nestled in the magnificent Sierra Nevada mountains is Lake Tahoe – the destination of over 3 million tourists throughout the year. Beautiful scenery, boating, camping, fishing, and hiking are among a few of the reasons why people are attracted to the Tahoe Basin. There are also hotels, casinos, ski resorts, restaurants, shops and other businesses, as well as historical and scenic landmarks to visit.

In addition to the $50 million Nevada Department Of Transportation (NDOT) has invested in the Environmental Improvement and Master Planning (EIMP) since 1995, another $36 million has also been spent on the roadways and adjacent areas in the form of pavement rehabilitation, safety improvements and enhancement projects. Continual and safe access to the Tahoe Basin’s rich cultural, historical, and environmental resources are ensured by NDOT’s roadway rehabilitation and safety improvement projects. A few of the projects include pavement preservation; as well as guardrail, barrier rail, and rumble strip construction. Through enhancement projects, NDOT strengthens the recreational and aesthetic aspects of the transportation system in the area. Some of the projects include scenic enhancements, bike/pedestrian paths, vista points, sidewalk enhancements, etc. So, next time you see a construction sign on Tahoe’s roadways, remember that we are working hard for your benefit.
