Ramp Metering Coming Soon to Las Vegas Freeways

Ramp meters will be activated on U.S. 95 and I-515 at select on-ramps at Cheyenne, Lake Mead, 4th Street/Casino Center Drive, Las Vegas Boulevard and Eastern. Through simple red and green signals, the meters will help you merge more safely onto the freeway, keeping your commute as convenient as possible. And this is just the beginning of an overall transportation management program. Ramp metering has proven to drastically reduce accidents and traffic congestion in cities nationwide. Detroit and Denver saw 50% reductions in freeway accidents. Drivers in Austin, Texas experienced a 60% increase in their freeway travel speeds. And we expect great success here in Southern Nevada.
