NDOT Offers Winter Driving Safety Tips
Motorists can drive a little safer on winter roads this winter season with driving tips from the “Ice and Snow- Take it Slow” campaign, sponsored by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) in association with the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol Division (NHP).
“We see too many crashes from drivers not slowing down in winter conditions,” NHP Deputy Chief Brian Sanchez said. “Slowing down and wearing seatbelts is always important. And, in winter conditions specifically, drivers should remove snow from their vehicle before driving, avoid quick stops and turns and turn off the cruise control to help avoid traction loss.”
“The safety of our roadways is of top importance, and there are many ways drivers can prevent crashes with basic safe driving techniques,” NDOT Director Susan Martinovich explained. “This campaign reminds Nevada motorists to drive safely in winter, for themselves and for all of us sharing the road.”
