Project Estimation and Estimate Building Procedures

Introduction

The purpose of this manual is intended to convey the transportation project cost estimation policy established by the chief road design engineer. In order to provide the greatest value to those using this manual, it must become established as a reliable source of information and guidance. The focus of this manual is to provide guidance and instruction to staff for efficiently and consistently developing project cost estimates and inputting that estimate into the Contract Management Subsystem.

This manual provides general knowledge about transportation project estimation procedures and detailed knowledge on the Contract Management Subsystem for building estimates. The user will find the current policy relating to the topic or where to find the current policy. The user will find comprehensive instructions for each step in the project workflow.

This manual has been prepared for the Nevada Department of Transportation’s engineering personnel and other interested agencies, departments, and individuals.
