Introduction
The purpose of this guide is to establish design criteria and supplement the AASHTO Green Book in instances where it gives a large range or is open to varying interpretation. It is also intended to provide uniform guidelines for decisions that are not necessarily a part of geometric design to insure that a continuity in design standards are used throughout the State.
This guide has been prepared for the Nevada Department of Transportation’s engineering personnel and other interested agencies, departments, and individuals. The guide contains crucial information on essential topics pertaining to the design process such as the design criteria and elements, and standards and practices. In addition to the engineering aspects, the guide addresses the policy and procedures specific to roadway design in Nevada, and includes information pertaining to engineering support, project workflow and much, much more.
