
To help protect the safety and mobility of all users, and to protect state roadways for Nevada citizens and visitors, the Nevada Department of Transportation requires permits for all uses outside of normal travel. Whether for a temporary event or permanent utility or development work on state right-of-way, these permits are necessary to grant use of state roadway.
There are various types of permits granted through the Department. Click below on the particular permit you need for further information:
- Over-dimensional Vehicles - NDOT manages over-sized or overweight, non-reducible (non-divisible) vehicles and loads traveling anywhere in Nevada, as well as reducible (divisible) vehicles and loads that are 70 feet or less in length and exceeding 80,000 pounds.
- Longer Combination Vehicle Permits: DMV Motor Carrier Division manages reducible (divisible) vehicles and loads over 70 feet in length.
- Special Events - parades, vehicle rallies, races, photography or film and other temporary uses, including temporary construction access
- Encroachment/Right-of-Way - maintenance or installation of utilities, development, landscape, etc.

- Political Signs
- U.S. DOT Commercial Vehicle Numbers - through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
