U.S. 95 Northwest Corridor Improvements Project

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), Clark County and the City of Las Vegas is improving U.S. 95 from Washington Avenue to Kyle Canyon Road in northwestern Las Vegas.
The U.S. 95 Northwest Corridor Improvements Project will add lanes on U.S. 95, construct Horse Drive and Kyle Canyon Road interchanges and a system-to-system interchange between U.S. 95 and CC 215. The project will also add auxiliary lanes, as well as ramp metering, a park-and-ride facility and landscape and aesthetic improvements.
The project has been divided into five phases for construction, consistent with the timing and anticipated need for improvements:
PHASE 1 – Washington Avenue to Ann Road, scheduled to start in 2010 with completion in 2012. NDOT/City of Las Vegas partnership project.
- Widening of U.S. 95 from three general purpose lanes and one HOV lane in each direction to add auxiliary lanes in each direction from Washington Avenue to Ann Road
- Widening the Gowan Road bridge
- Improving the Cheyenne Avenue interchange by constructing a loop ramp to accommodate heavy westbound Cheyenne Avenue to southbound U.S. 95 traffic
- Improving the Rancho/Ann Road interchange by constructing two new structures (one in each direction) to braid the northbound exit ramp and the southbound entrance ramp
- Improving the Durango Drive interchange by constructing a loop ramp to accommodate heavy westbound Durango Drive to southbound U.S. 95 traffic
- Improving the southbound off ramp at Lake Mead Boulevard by adding a signal on Rock Springs Drive
- Constructing landscape and aesthetic improvements, as well as sound walls in noise-sensitive areas
PHASE 2 – Ann Road to Kyle Canyon Road, with final design to begin in spring 2010 and construction projected to start in 2028 or earlier, depending on funding availability and increased development demand. NDOT/City of Las Vegas partnership project.
- Widening U.S. 95 to three general purpose lanes and one HOV lane and auxiliary lanes in each direction from Ann Road to Durango Drive
- Widening U.S. 95 to three general purpose lanes and auxiliary lanes in each direction from Durango Drive to Kyle Canyon Road
- Widening U.S. 95 from two general purpose lanes in each direction to three general purpose lanes and auxiliary lanes in each direction from Durango Drive to Kyle Canyon Road
- Constructing landscape and aesthetic improvements, as well as sound walls in noise-sensitive areas
PHASE 3 – U.S. 95/CC 215 Northern Beltway interchange, final design is underway and construction is scheduled to start in 2012. NDOT/Clark County/City of Las Vegas partnership project.
- Construct new ramps to complete a system-to-system interchange configuration at the U.S. 95/CC 215 Northern Beltway interchange
- Landscape and aesthetic improvements
PHASE 4 - U.S. 95 at Horse Drive, construction completed in June 2011. NDOT/City of Las Vegas partnership project.
- Construct a new service interchange
- Landscape and aesthetic improvements
PHASE 5 - U.S. 95 at Kyle Canyon Road, projected to begin construction in 2018. NDOT/City of Las Vegas partnership project.
