Title: U.S. Forest Service to Close SR158 until Christmas Day
LAS VEGAS – Effective immediately, the Nevada Department of Transportation will allow the U.S. Forest Service to close State Route 158 (Deer Creek Road) until Christmas day. The closure is necessary to ensure public safety until the completion of work in the Desert Overlook area on SR158. That work includes paving on the shoulder, grading in the dividing line and other construction adjacent to the highway. Visitors wishing to access the Mount Charleston Lodge can do so via SR157 (Kyle Canyon Road). Those wishing to access skiing facilities can use SR156 (Lee Canyon Road). During the closure, Mount Charleston residents will still be able to get onto and off of the mountain.
NDOT strives to provide current information about construction schedules and highway and roadway restrictions and closures. Unscheduled restrictions and closures may occur and weather can impact work schedules. For the latest information on Nevada highway conditions, call 5-1-1 or log on to Nevada 5-1-1/NV Roads.
