February. 21, 2012
(703) 385-6504
Beginning Friday, February 24th at 10 p.m. until Monday February 27th at 5 a.m. traffic on U.S. 95 will be diverted through the Cheyenne Ave., off ramps and back onto U.S. 95. Traffic will be reconfigured to allow two lanes to use the off ramps and continue onto U.S. 95. In order to accommodate the traffic, access across the Cheyenne overpass will be restricted beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, however right turn access onto Cheyenne from north and southbound U.S. 95 will be permitted. Changeable message signs will be used to provide detours for commuters and status updates. This marathon weekend work is needed to safely demolish a portion of the Cheyenne Ave overpass in preparation for widening of the bridge as part of the U.S. 95 Northwest Corridor Improvements project. The $68 million U.S. 95 Northwest Corridor Improvements project to add lanes, improve bridges and interchanges and add landscaping/aesthetic elements is on schedule to be completed in the summer of 2012.
