The Nevada Department of Transportation and Granite Construction will begin switching traffic on Interstate 80 Reno to the 2012 construction configuration the weekend of February 10 on the $72 million Design-Build Project from Robb Drive to Vista Boulevard, weather permitting.  I-80 westbound will be reduced to two lanes beginning Sunday, February 5th, after 9 p.m. as crews prepare for the traffic shift. The shift will occur in two phases. The first phase will shift I-80 eastbound traffic to I-80 westbound from Keystone Avenue to Wells Avenue the weekend of February 10th. I-80 eastbound and westbound will be two lanes from Fourth Street to Keystone Avenue. The second phase will shift traffic from Wells Avenue to Fourth Street the weekend of March 2nd.  The traffic control is needed to replace the deteriorating 40-year-old concrete.  The project team is beginning construction early in hopes of reducing traffic control during the special events season.
