Flash Flood Causes Indefinite Closure of Portion of SR267
September. 19, 2012
LAS VEGAS – As a result of flash flooding on Aug. 22, a five-mile portion of Scottys Castle Road will be closed indefinitely. Nevada SR267 remains open, but the road is closed when it crosses the California border into Death Valley National Park. Scottys Castle Road, also known as Route 5, Bonnie Clare Road, or North Highway, is closed from the California border to just east of Scotty’s Castle. The flash flooding damaged the pavement surface and covered sections of the road with debris. This road is maintained by Death Valley National Park. Park officials have been working to repair the damage on other higher-priority roads first.
