Beginning the week of Oct. 24, motorists can access I-80 westbound with the construction of a temporary on-ramp using the Wells Ave. westbound off-ramp. The original westbound Wells Ave. on-ramp will remain closed. Motorists will travel east up the existing westbound off-ramp; at the top of the ramp loop around 180 degrees; and begin travelling westbound on I-80. Temporary signage and striping will provide clear direction to motorists. The ramp is temporary and will be in operation for approximately six weeks.
The Sierra St. on-ramp to I-80 westbound will be closed 24-hours-a-day, seven days-week for the same time period. The closure is needed to shift traffic into the winter configuration of three lanes in each direction and to enhance the safety of the traveling public and construction crews.
To access I-80 westbound, motorists are encouraged to take Sierra St. south; to Sixth St. west; to Keystone Ave. north; and take the Keystone Ave. on-ramp to I-80 westbound.
The project team is working extended shifts to expedite construction.
