TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM
The current highway act SAFETEA-LU was funded through FY2009. Please be advised that the Nevada Transportation Board approval for all Transportation Enhancement (TE) projects programmed after FY2009 remains contingent upon the future availability of enhancement funds.
INTRODUCTION
Does your community need sidewalks or bike paths to link important destinations safely? Do you want to create a greater sense of place with gateway landscaping? Or do you want to preserve history and boost tourism at the same time by renovating an old train depot to house a visitor’s center or transportation museum?
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration ( FHWA) share your interest in these projects and others that enhance the transportation experience in your area and make our communities more livable. The TE program was developed to fund projects that go beyond where typical transportation projects usually stop.
According to the FHWA in order for a project to be eligible for TE funds the project must fit into one of the three grouped project areas shown in this table: Transportation Enhancement Grouped Activities. Schedule for FY 2013 Nevada Transportation Enhancement Projects
Pre-Application Period (December 1, 2011 to January 13, 2012-now closed)-This step in the process will be used to determine if projects submitted qualify for TE funding. Staff will notify applicants if their projects are viable and invite them to submit a full application.
