The Nevada Department of Transportation, Office of Aviation Planning maintains an ongoing pavement maintenance-management program. The program periodically evaluates airfield pavement condition using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) survey procedure, which allows pavement condition to be objectively rated on a scale of 0 to 100. Results of the study are used to plan for future needs and to determine the most cost-effective maintenance and repair strategy at each airport. The maintenance-management program also satisfies a congressionally mandated grant assurance that is required to receive Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding.
